Crowns and Bridges
The function of a crown is to protect a tooth from decay, protect a weak tooth from fracturing, rebuild a tooth that is severely worn or discolored, or to restore a dental implant. A crown consists of a porcelain or gold cap that encases the entire tooth. Often a crown is placed in adults when an old filling fails, thus preventing further deterioration. The type of crown recommended will depend on the function of the tooth to be repaired as well as the aesthetic demands of the patient. The entire procedure requires two full appointments, spaced two weeks apart.

Bridges are replacements for missing teeth. The two adjacent teeth are prepared as crowns, and act as support for the bridge. Generally, a bridge is permanently cemented to both teeth and cannot be removed by the patient. Thus, a bridge can restore your smile, improve your chewing, and prevent teeth from drifting into the gap generated by missing teeth. This requires two full appointments, spaced two weeks apart.
